Directional Leadership: Kevin and Julie Beasley

It was 1999 and I was a newlywed living in Lakeland, Florida. I was working in a middle school and Julie was finishing her last semester at Southeastern University, where we both graduated. Julie interned at Focus on the Family in Colorado Springs and that’s how we found out about a new church starting there. We moved to Central Colorado with a dream to be part of the gathering of a new community of faith. My experience in Colorado worked wonders in preparing me for what was to come…the birthing of a brand new ministry in Auburn, Alabama.

Two years passed and our commitment to the Colorado church was coming to an end. As we asked God to direct us, we decided to move back to Central Florida to help with another new church. Then after another year and a half we ended up in Opelika, Alabama working full-time as a College and Young Adult pastor. As with Colorado, the three and a half years with Trinity has been a growth process that has equipped us for the next step.

Because of my lack of exposure to church growing up, I’ve always understood what it means to not know Christ. Sometimes I feel like I relate better to unbelievers than I do to churched people. For that reason, my heart cries out for those who do not know what it means to follow Christ. It is this nagging in my heart that has caused me to ask the question, “What if…What if there was a community of faith open and available to those that are crying out for hope in a hopeless world?” How would that community look? What language would it speak? How would that culture “feel”? How would it be structured and organized? These are the questions that have led to the vision to begin a ministry that answers the questions that have kept me awake late into the night.

Julie, Grace (5), Gabe (3) , Daniel Beasley (born last December) and I are excited to accept this assignment that God has given us. We are excited about the stories that we already have to tell. We are excited about the stories that are yet told. We are confident that this is our place in expanding the Kingdom of God. This is the story God has for us. We anticipate how you will fit into that story.
