2009 Unity Prayer :

A church which pitches its tents without
constantly looking out for new horizons,
which does not continually strike camp,
is being untrue to its calling. …(We must)
play down our longing for certainty,
accept what is risky, and live by
improvisation and experiment.
—Hans Kung

The Bible teaches that as we agree together in prayer, God will hear our prayers and will respond as He sees fit. The Directional Board of CONVERGE spent several weeks coming to an agreement on what we feel to be God's will for COVERGE in 2009. We are asking our partners to pray daily for the following needs and have outlined a specific prayer for each day of the week. Below you will see our unity prayer and a day of the week that we are asking you to join us in each element.

Dear Jesus, the One who appointed us to this task…

You have called us to a great purpose.  We embrace Acts 17:26-27, which says, “From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.  God did this so that men would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.”  You have placed us in Lee County Alabama at this time in history and our call is to seek you and introduce others to you.

MONDAY

In 2009 we ask that you help us to find practical ways to live in a vibrant relationship with you, a rewarding healthy relationship with one another and a generous relationship with our world.  Teach us to “do life together” and live in true mutual submission.  Help us to live a life of “Love in Action” together.

TUESDAY

You said that as we love one another the world will know that we are your children.  Teach us what it means to love one another.  Help us to walk in that love. Let us make that even more evident by finding creative and practical ways to love our cities and to continue to pour ourselves out like broken bread and poured out wine, following the example you left us.

WEDNESDAY

As people get connected to us we must lead them into true community.  Help us to provide community by embedding missionaries and shepherds into every street, social network and workplace in Auburn and Opelika.  Empower us to recruit, train and motivate people to love those around them.  Help us to make every believer a missionary with a defined mission field and strategy to reach the people living and working with them.  May we see the “Village Mission” begin with power in 2009?  May many “Villages” be launched in order to bring your Kingdom to Lee County and beyond.

THURSDAY

As these embedded missionaries begin to see fruit, they will need more focused ministries to help with specific issues.  Help us to empower our current ministries and to keep our eyes open for new needs as they arise.  Help the leaders of our ministries be equipped to do exactly what you have called them to do.  Help us to resource and empower them to pursue your dream.  Help our ministry leaders to integrate into the life of the larger CONVERGE community and help us live in unity and interdependence.

FRIDAY

The pursuit of this vision is larger than us!  In Matthew 9:37 and Luke 10:2 you were sending out missionaries and instructed them to pray for workers in the harvest.  We pray for new and stronger workers!  God, please lead us to the people you want us to share this vision with and then lead them to commit to this work!  We pray for directional leaders, ministry leaders and village leaders.  We also humbly ask you to provide the financial resources we will need to accomplish this work.

SATURDAY

We believe that only you have the resources we need and that you care more about the success of this work than we do.  So we give ourselves to you in the area of leaders and finances.

In return for all that you do in this vision, help us to give our all.  Help us to be motivated and committed to offer ourselves.  We pray that you help us to be consistent and generous.  We pray for strength for the task.  We pray for the courage to follow your leading in every single aspect of this work with confidence and faith.

SUNDAY

Above all we pray for the redemption of lives.  We pray for stories of salvation from people of all creeds, races, nations and socio-economic statuses.
